Back up before changing settings

   Copy important files

   Back up saves, documents and custom game configuration files to a location you can still access after a system problem. Open a copied file to confirm it is usable.

   Record original values

   Take screenshots of the exact settings you plan to change. Include enough surrounding context to find them again, plus the current date and software version.

3. 03

   Review system recovery

   Follow Microsoft’s System Protection and System Restore guidance to check available restore points. Record the chosen point and its date; keep file backups separately.

4. 04

   Keep recovery instructions accessible

   Save the original values and recovery instructions outside this browser tab. Export this checklist and note where the backups are stored, without adding passwords or recovery keys.
